Completed Project: Ravens Scarf

I completed this in plenty of time for the official start of the NFL season. (Sorry - I just don't give a hoot about preseason football.) I think it compliments my Ravens shirt ever so nicely. I expect it will also look good with my black winter jacket.

It also looks great on Seamus.

Completed Project: Felted Scarf

Here's the felted scarf made with Blue Heron chunky chenille that I bought at Frivolous Fibers in St. Michaels. I started it on MS&W weekend and finished knitting it in early July. I didn't get around to felting it for a month. This is my first knitted scarf and my first felted project! (quasi felted, really)

Seamus found the scarf to be uber stylish and uber tasty.


All details are available on Ravelry. I meant to measure it before it was felted but I didn't remember to do it until the washer was on the spin cycle. Oops.

If I didn't have all these babies to knit and crochet for, I would consider getting more of this yarn and making lots of hats and scarves for Christmas gifts. The colors are so rich and vibrant and the yarn is soooo soft. Looks like all the adults are getting store bought items this year.

Completed Project: Chemo Cap

It must be a 2-for-1 Monday special here at the blog...another F.O. to share.

Thanks to "C" for recommending the site, HeadHuggers.org. I'm not sure if I'll mail the cap now or wait until I have 1 or 2 more done before I send it.

This was my first ever hat and I found the pattern to be very easy, though I am no fan of reverse crochet. It slows me down too much. Overall, I'd make this pattern again, though probably with a bigger hook so I could wear it.

Pattern: Homespun Crochet Hat Pattern

Hook: K (6.5 mm)

Yarn: less than 1 skein of Lion Brand Homespun in Sierra (? - this is questionable as I used yarn from my stash and I know I bought this yarn eons ago. Could be a color that has been discontinued.)

Size: It's too small for my Irish melon. (Hence, no photo of me wearing it. It's too funny.) I'm just hoping it fits whomever receives it.

I completed a project with yarn purchased from this year's MS&W!! Yay!!!!

Yarn:
1 skeins of Brooks Farm Yarn in

• Fall colors (exact colorway unknown)


• fiber is 60% Super Wash Wool / 20% Silk / 20% Viscose

Size: 5" wide by 56" long

Modifications: I was going to put a border around the entire scarf but nixed that idea in favor of having a longer scarf.

Progress Report: Basket Weave Scarf

Since the completion of the afghan, and while I am awaiting the arrival of my order from Blue Moon Fiber Arts, I have turned my attention to the basket weave scarf.

It's a quick project, one that would have been finished a while ago if it were not for the afghan and socks. I'm up to 30" in length and it's 5" wide. I'm not sure how long it will finally be - I usually just keep going until I like the length and look of a scarf. Anyone know what the standard length or width for a scarf are? Are there standard lengths or widths for scarves?

In a two-for-one type special, here are progress photos of the scarf showing different lighting techniques (thanks for the tips, Queen!).

Quite a difference, would you agree? I'm impressed. I'll be using this technique from now on, especially if/when I start making things to sell on Etsy.

Here's one last shot of the scarf where you can really see the edges of the scarf. They kinda ripple a bit.



I'm thinking I'm going to need to edge/border this scarf...but I'm not sure how I'll end up doing it. Suggestions?

New Project: Basket Weave Scarf

I started this project in a fury - but that fury has subsided and I haven't done much with this for a few weeks. Oh well - it deserves a post anyway.



I'm using yarn I bought at MS&W at the Brooks Farm Yarn booth. Not sure of the exact color name, but the fiber is 60% Super Wash Wool / 20% Silk / 20% Viscose. The pattern is my own - just row upon row of basket weave stitch using a size F crochet hook.

I'm pretty proud of myself with this project, not because it's complex or difficult. It's because I'm using the yarn I bought at this year's MS&W and I designed the scarf using the crochet books I got for my birthday and graduation.

What about the yarn I bought at last year's MS&W?

Well - I'm working on that. :)
